Increasing bus frequency and use 3 Replies

If only a modest proportion of people made some more journeys by bus rather than by car, this would make an increase in bus services and frequency viable (e.g. a shift to a half-hourly service on the…Continue

Car Sharing

I'm just wondering how much interest, if any, there is in starting a car sharing group in Chippy.  I'm sure there are plenty of people here who own private cars which spend a lot of time sitting in…Continue

As a very keen cyclist I regularly cycle and shop in the town centre, Chippy is crying out for decent cycle storage provision Middle Row adjacent to the banking would be a great location tucked out of the way and safe from accidental damage.

I hear that the Town Council are against such a provision, they need to get into the 21st century.

Hi Steve and welcome to TCN.  Dave Wallace is the person you need to speak to--he's been helping WODC formulate their Active Transport Plan and attends their Sustainable Transport Forum meetings.  I know that he's done a survey of Chippy and I think there has been a decision concerning the placement of cycle racks.  I think the new TC is an improvement on the last one but 21st century?  Hmmm....

Barbara

Yes thanks I know, just being slightly provocative, having lived here for 5 years the cycling provision seems a long time coming, considering the little cost and minor effort involved.

On another subject re Sainsbury's the 'stop out of town supermarkets' group are having a meet tonight are the TCN going to be present.

Didn't know about this meeting--or that particular group.  I'm aware of the meeting at the C&C tomorrow at 6:30 and several of us will be going to that one.  Unfortunately, not free this evening myself but it would be good if someone else could make it.  What about you Steve?

Yes I'm on the steering team.

What's C&C?

Crown & Cushion, the High Street, 6:30 pm.  It's the group mainly formed by local retailers.  Had an in-depth discussion on TCN's approach to the Sainsbury's application at our steering group meeting last night.  Will post notes on the meeting on this website as soon as they're compiled.
